Carol Lee von Gortler Baker passed away at home in Duvall, WA on June 25, 2022, Born to Orville (Mutt) and Alberta Larson on September 6, 1935. Carol Lee grew up in Wenatchee, WA where her family owned the Larson Brothers Bakery. Horses were a part of family life with Carol Lee becoming a rodeo queen for Appleatchee. Attending the University of Washington, she studied music and became a lifelong Dawg fan; always ready to place a friendly wager on the Apple Cup.
She met her husband, Justin von Gortler in Wenatchee. They moved to Redmond, WA, where they planted deep roots with their business and family. Together they built The Justin Agency insurance brokerage and raised four children. Life was a whirlwind of activities and never a dull moment.
When they retired, they moved to La Conner, WA where they became avid boaters. Their travels spanned from La Conner to Desolation Sound and all points in between. A generous hostess, Carol Lee especially enjoyed sharing time on the water with family and friends.
Widowed in 1994, Carol Lee found love again with Tom Baker and moved to Bainbridge Island, WA where time was spent golfing, playing bridge and spending time with the grandchildren. After Tom’s passing, Carol Lee made her home in Palm Springs, CA and Bellevue, WA. One of her many joys was singing with the Tremalos (a Parkinson’s group). Later living with her daughter and son in love in Duvall, WA until her passing.
Carol Lee embodied fun and a positive outlook everywhere she went. Those that had the pleasure of her company will remember her laughter, beautiful smile, and that special twinkle in her eye.
She is survived by daughters; Jodie (Paul), Julie (Buzzy), Jill and Justin (Stephanie), grandchildren; Rachel, Parker (Taylor), Eli, Trey (Alexa), and Henry and great grandchildren; Tyson and Harlow.
