Born on May 25, 1943, in Newberg, Oregon, Don was raised by Audrey and Gordon Duzan. During his high school years, he worked in the fields at the Alderman farm in Dayton, Oregon. This experience led to his strong work ethic in his professional career. After graduating from Roseburg High School in Roseburg, Oregon, he moved to Eugene, Oregon, where he majored in Mathematics at the University of Oregon. It was during this time that he met his beloved wife, Judith, whom he married in 1964. After working in various retail roles, Don began his career at William H Rorer (now Sanofi) in 1972 and remained with the company until his retirement in 2008.
Don loved fishing and hunting, but his favorite hobby was playing the baritone in various community bands. The last of these were the Monroe Community Band and Bavarian Dance Band (which he initiated as a side project from the Community Band). Don was well known for his love of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy shows. He rarely missed an episode; in fact, he was known to watch the shows on vacations. He also enjoyed his weekly meetups with his coffee guys at his local Starbucks.
Don loved to travel. He took many wonderful trips to Hawaii with Judy and various family members and friends. He had opportunities to travel the world with Judy by his side, with cruises to the Caribbean and the East Coast (United States and Canada) and memorable trips to France and China.
He leaves behind his wife, Judy; children Jonathan and Julie; daughter-in-law Heather; brother Larry and sister Laurie; and numerous family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and Gordon, and brother, James.
Don will be interred in the International Order of Oddfellows Cemetery in Dayton, Oregon, on July 18, 2026. In place of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to: The Humane Society, Shriners, St Jude’s, Wounded Warriors, or Tunnel to Towers.
