Hank Le was born Le Thi Ngoc Hanh, on May 29, 1945, in Tra Vinh, Vietnam, to Le Van Huyen and Nguyen Thi Qua. She was born in a family of educators and soon her own love of teaching grew. She drove herself to accomplish a teaching career in the middle school, at age 18. After a few years of wonderful adventures with her students, she had an opportunity to step farther by working for Pacific Architects and Engineers, a US Company in Saigon, from 1966 to 1975. She excelled as a supply officer, supervising staff and even educating new hires.
While in Saigon, she met her husband, My Thien Tran. They were married November 30, 1971, and they soon began a family. After the Communists took over in 1975, Hank’s family members who were already in the United States worked very hard to get her family out of Vietnam. They finally succeeded in 1991, and they arrived in Bellevue, Washington.
Once in the United States, Hank saw many specialists for her eyes while she spent most of her time raising her three children, Baldwin Tran who married Hue Truong, Hannah Tran who married Rob Mitchell, and Hubert Tran. Since arriving in the northwest, she has lived in Bellevue, Albuquerque, Bremerton, Camano Island, Bothell and Woodinville. Her grandchildren are: Isaac Mitchell, Felix Tran, Brian Mitchell, and Derick Tran. Hank is also survived by her husband, My Tran, her brother, Phuc, and her sisters, Dung, Nga, Han and Ha.
