Jean Cohn was born in Montreal, Quebec, to Samuel Globman and Luba Globman (née Semack). At age 12, she moved with her family to Vancouver, and at 19, she met Donald Cohn. They married in 1956 and settled in Seattle.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Donald Cohn. She is survived by her children, Stacey Cohn, Stuart Cohn, and Lesley Piha (Sandy); and her grandchildren, Alyssa Ross, Miles Piha, Shane Piha, and Jadon Piha.
Jean was devoted to her family, through all the joys — and no shortage of aggravation — that came with them. Her friends were a true source of happiness in her life; she was loyal, caring, and known for her humor and her ability to make people feel at ease. An excellent cook, she could always be counted on for a wonderful meal.
Jean enjoyed knitting blankets for the homeless, gardening, walking, and spending time laughing with friends over coffee. She worked at the University of Washington until retiring at 65 and later volunteered for many years at Jewish Family Service.
She will be remembered for her kindness and the genuine love she had for the people in her life.
May her memory be a blessing.
At the request of the deceased, no services are planned.
Donations in her memory may be made to Jewish Family Service, Medic One Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
