Judith Ann “Judy” Saunders was born in Everett, Washington along with twin sister, Jean Parker, on September 1, 1948 to William and Edna Parker. She was raised in Everett, WA, and later attended Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. After achieving her undergraduate degree, she went on to obtain her Masters in Education from George Washington University.
During her life, Judy served as a dedicated educator and lived across the country, including Texas, Washington DC, Maryland, California, and Pennsylvania. Eventually, she settled in Bothell, Washington where she raised her family, and later retired in Redmond, Washington where she lived until her passing on August 28, 2026.
Judy achieved a remarkable career as an educator, particularly focusing her efforts and expertise in Special Education, where she was loved and respected by colleagues and students alike. She took several years off to raise her children, Ben and Amy, in their younger years, and returned to the career she loved so passionately until her retirement in 2016.
After retirement, she found joy in dedicating her time as a volunteer to several causes, particularly the Food Box Program, delivering food to families in need; and Open Kitchen, a food bank/soup kitchen that served the Redmond community.
She is survived by her older brother, William Parker, of Mesa AZ; her two children, Amy (Saunders) Silverman and Brian Silverman of Redmond, WA, and Ben Saunders and Angi Baker-Saunders of Colorado Springs, CO. She also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren: Isabella and Olivia Silverman of Redmond, WA and Ace, Penelope, Flaunianna and Hazel Saunders of Colorado Springs, CO.
