

Julianne McAllister, a long-time resident of Newcastle, Washington, passed away on the morning of October 13th, 2022. She had just celebrated her 86 birthday a few days prior, in the company of her family.
Julianne was born on October 7th, 1936, in Champaign, Illinois to the late Harold and Elverna Johnson. After Julianne graduated from Vancouver High School in 1954, she went on to study nursing at Pacific Lutheran University. In 1958, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She then continued her education at the University of Washington receiving her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Degree in 1972. She was then certified by the National Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Associates in 1977 and received Prescriptive authority in the state of Washington. Julianne began her nursing career in 1958, where she became the head nurse for Infants at Children's Orthopedic Hospital in Seattle, Washington. In 1960, she continued her pediatric nursing career, working as an office nurse with Doctor’s, Dean, Skinner and Merritt at Mercer Island Pediatrics. In 1973, after receiving her ARNP degree she continued working as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner under Dr. Skinner, at Mercer Island Pediatric Association. Julianne finished out her nursing career at Redmond Pediatrics, retiring in 1998.
Shortly after starting her nursing career, in 1959, Julianne married Ronald McAllister from Seattle, Washington. The two met while attending college at Pacific Lutheran University. Julianne and Ronald went on to have two beautiful children, Matthew, and Mitsi McAllister, whom they raised in Newcastle, Washington.
Julianne was an active member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Bellevue, Washington. She and her family joined the church in 1959 and quickly became involved members. Julianne participated in the church's vacation bible school program, the Chancel Choir, the Knit Wit program, the Prayer Tree program and the Health and Wholeness Committee. In 1998, Julianne retired and spent her time with her four grandchildren, being involved in their school and extracurricular activities. She enjoyed painting, walking, hiking, sewing, gardening and being involved in church activities. She also spent her time traveling around the world with her husband and friends.
The memorial service will be held on November 6th, 2022, at 2:00pm at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Bellevue Washington.
