Leota C. Yenter
Leota “Lee” Charlotte Yenter was born on March 20, 1931, in Lewistown, Montana, to Frederick and Bolivia Wagener. She passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of ninety-four. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David D. Yenter.
She is survived by her five daughters: Rebecca Garza (Encarnación), Jana Horst (Tom), Jeanne Kukich (Nick), Susan Yenter, and Sandra Irvin (Darrell); sixteen loving grandchildren—Skyler, Bryn, Laura, Amber, Heidi, Greta, Calvin, Shane, Thomas, Robert, Peter, Nicole, Madeline, Joseph, Audrey, and April—and twelve great-grandchildren.
Leota spent most of her years on the eastside of Seattle. In 1970, she and her husband purchased property on Henry Island in the San Juan Islands, which eventually became her full-time home and a cherished place to visit.
A passionate gardener, Leota shared her homegrown vegetables and vibrant flowers with friends and neighbors. She had a special fondness for the island's wildlife, often welcoming deer into her yard and filling her feeders for the hummingbirds that danced outside her deck overlooking Nelson Bay.
Above all, Leota will be remembered as a deeply loving grandmother. For more than 50 years, she created lasting memories with her grandchildren. All of them enjoyed riding in the boat around Henry Island, feeding the deer, and exploring the beauty of the San Juan Islands. Many also fondly recall her warm and welcoming home in Redmond, where the family gathered for holidays, celebrations, and simple moments of togetherness.
Her love and dedication to her family will always be remembered.
Service will be held at Cedar Lawns Memorial in Redmond, Washington, on May 1, 2025, at 12:00 for reflection and remembrance. The Graveside service will be at 2:00-3:30 p.m.
