Her family liked to say that Loyce Lucille Hurlburt Panos was the best Mom ever. She was born August 26, 1933, in Akron, CO to Coid C. Hurlburt and Merle Gladys Hurlburt. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in teaching at Colorado State University and taught first grade in Laramie, WY. There she met her husband, Robert V. Panos, to whom she was married 62 years. They joked that since they lived in the same apartment building they might as well make their same address official. She always had high standards in everything she did including 4H, creating and expertly sewing her clothes, baking bread, preparing for holidays, studying the Bible, being a Girl Scout leader, entertaining, and being a Homemaker.
Later in life, she taught again in a local preschool then learned desktop publishing where her work was impeccable. She thoroughly enjoyed her work and co-workers, enough that she never really wanted to retire. Above all else, she had two loves, her family and the Lord. She loved unconditionally and prayed for everyone in her life. No matter what she was doing, she always had time to sit and talk with her friends and family and thoroughly enjoyed time with people, especially her kids and grandkids. She loved every part of sharing in their lives.
Loyce is survived by her three daughters Katena (Doug) Gunn, Athena Panos (Ray Osburn), Sabrina Panos (Scott Hill), and seven grandchildren, Taylor & Olivia Gunn, Montana, Kaya, & Kiona Hill, Leif, and Rona Osburn. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Merse and Darth Hurlburt, sisters Cheryl (Hurlburt) Allen, and Aleene (Hurlburt) Nyquist.
A Memorial Service celebrating Loyce’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on January 15, 2022, at Northside Church in Lynnwood.
