A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, and educator, Lyn lived a life defined by compassion, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to caring for others.
Lyn was born on December 8, 1938, on Long Island, New York. She earned her Registered Nurse (R.N.) degree from Adelphi University and later completed her Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Washington, reflecting her lifelong dedication to learning and caregiving.
In 1960, she married her beloved husband, Charlie Langdon, with whom she built a rich and enduring partnership grounded in love, family, and shared purpose. Together, they raised four children: Charlie Jr. (Carol), Jeffrey (Michele), Karen (Mike DeStefano), and Peter (Darcy). Marilyn was a proud grandmother to Alexine, Brooks, Allaire, Spencer, Chad, Jackson, Caroline, Grace, Berkes, Julia, and Lizzy, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Charlie; her parents; and her infant daughter, Ann Langdon. She is survived by her brother Ken Berkes (Willa) of Corning, NY.
Her nursing career spanned an extraordinary 60 years and touched countless lives across multiple settings, including hospital care, clinical practice, home health, and education. In addition to her clinical and teaching roles, Marilyn demonstrated her entrepreneurial spirit by creating a commercial educational video to help new parents care for their newborns—an extension of her deep commitment to supporting families during life’s most important moments.
Known from coast-to-coast for her listening ear, Lyn’s professional accomplishments reflected the same care and compassion she extended to countless others in her community. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her decisions and grounding her in purpose and conviction. She cherished time with family and friends, and was known to them for her wit, intelligence, and steady presence. She carried herself with strength, conviction, and used her voice to advocate for others.
