Ronald Chris Mebust

With deep sadness, we share the passing of Ronald Mebust, who died on September 3, 2026, at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Ronald was born on June 18, 1948, in West Seattle to Arnold Conrad and Christina Doris Mebust. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold, and is survived by his beloved mother, Christina, age 103.

On February 12, 1972, Ronald married Sally McDonald, the love of his life. Together, they shared 54 wonderful years and raised three sons: Matthew, Ryan, and Gregory. A devoted husband and father, Ronald taught his family the values of integrity, perseverance, and kindness. His legacy lives on through his sons; their spouses, Casey and Sarah; and his cherished grandchildren, Johnathan, Halie, and Natalie.

Ronald graduated from West Seattle High School in 1967 and earned a Certificate of Achievement in Diesel and Heavy-Duty Mechanics from South Seattle Community College in 1969. He began his career at Sahlberg Equipment in 1970, where he trained in access control systems.

In 1979, he moved his family from West Seattle to Redmond. Later that year, he and Sally launched Trinity Gate and Door. Together with their sons, they built a business that continues to operate today. Ronald took pride in his craft, mentored young technicians, and shared his knowledge of gate operators and ornamental gates until his retirement in 2013.

Ronald generously gave his time to his church and several nonprofits. In the 1980s and 1990s, he served as president of Bread of Life Mission and on the boards of Ensenada Christian Ministries and Peniel Ranch, where he contributed to many building projects, mentored others, and taught anyone willing to learn.

Ronald will be remembered for his strong principles, compassion, warm smile, and gentle manner.

Above all, he cherished his family and treasured every moment he spent with them.

Ronald found joy in simple pleasures: feeding birds and squirrels, sharing Friday breakfasts with his best friend, Walt Hopp, salmon fishing, traveling, inventing, and watching his favorite programs.

Ronald is also survived by his sisters, Karen McIntire and Diane Mebust, who will lovingly remember the laughter and love they shared.

Ronald will be dearly missed. His love, kindness, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. In his honor, may we continue to fish, love one another, and carry his memory with us always.
