Ronald Gene Wiita passed away on May 2nd at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center due to a ruptured aneurysm and emphysema/COPD complications. Ron was born in Duluth, MN on December 7, 1943 to Eugene and Helen Wiita. He graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1961. That same year he joined the Navy (Seabee Branch), Construction Battalion, stationed in Okinawa. He also spent service time in Guam. After his time in the service he started working in the construction field. He worked for several contractors in the Two Harbors and Duluth area. He married Jeanne Holappa in 1966, had a son, Ronny and daughter, Rhonda. They lived in Two Harbors for 7 years. Ron and his family moved to Washington state in 1974, living in Redmond, WA. He worked in the Seattle area, most of the time (21 years) with Sellen Construction. Ron was a member of Laborers Local 242. He was a member of the Redmond Eagles Aerie 3324. Ron’s main interests were hunting and fishing. Due to his medical limitations in recent years his pastime was going to the casino and buying winning scratch tickets.
Ron is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jeanne, son Ronny of Sultan, WA, daughter Rhonda Cline of Redmond, WA, brothers Richard (Carol) of Kirkland, WA, and Lee Sultan, WA, grandsons, Russell and Riley Wiita, and Brandon Cline. He is also survived by his in-laws, the Holappa family, many nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, uncle Roy (Jo) Johnson, several cousins and many close friends. He loved his family and friends, and they meant the world to him. He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene, mother, Helen and step-father Robert Kuchta.
