Tyler Barwick

September 2, 1965 – July 6, 2023
Obituary of Tyler Barwick
IN THE CARE OF

Cedar Lawns Memorial Park & Funeral Home

It is with a heavy heart and tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Tyler Barwick of Woodinville, Washington.

Surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer, Tyler passed away peacefully on July 6, 2023 in Kirkland, Washington.

Born September 2, 1965 in Northern California, Tyler spent his youth in Shasta County exploring local wilderness and rivers, camping, fishing, playing baseball, learning guitar, and eventually developing his life-long passion for snowboarding.

After receiving his Bachelor of Science from California State University, Chico, Tyler moved to Texas then to Oregon where he met the love of his life, Christy. The two married in a small ceremony on a beach in Hawaii and later started a family together in Washington, where they welcomed their two daughters. Tyler and Christy recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. For over 10 years Tyler had a successful career in IT at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, the same world-class cancer research center that treated Tyler’s cancer.

Tyler’s greatest joy was building a life with Christy, being a devoted father to his daughters, and enjoying time with his friends and family. Tyler’s curiosity, creativity, keen intellect, and diverse passions drove many of his personal pursuits, which included snowboarding mountains in the Pacific Northwest, California and Utah, scuba diving off the Hawaiian Islands and Washington Coast, becoming an amateur astronomer, following advancements in space exploration, enjoying woodworking, and cheering on his beloved baseball and football teams, the San Francisco Giants and the San Francisco 49ers. Tyler’s appreciation of life, love of nature, and quick wit will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends.

Tyler is reunited in Heaven with loved ones who passed before him: grandparents, aunts, uncles and his wife’s parents. He is survived by his loving wife Christy, daughters Natalie and Lily, parents Robert and Suellen Barwick, sister Lisa (Santosh) Joseph, nieces Ellen (John) Lambert, Madeline (Alex) Swindell, Claire (Deniz) Peterson, and cousins Amy Barwick, Denise Miller, and Curtis Barwick.

In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Tyler by donating blood at your local blood bank or making a financial donation to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center https://www.fredhutch.org/en/ways-to-give/honor-a-loved-one.html
