A life well lived and a man well-loved, we will miss you everyday

Zach was born in Spokane, WA and raised in Lakewood. He passed peacefully at his home in Redmond, WA. As a child, he traveled with his family, when his father was stationed in the Philippines and later in Germany. Zach graduated from Clover Park High School in Lakewood, class of 1974. He moved to Bothell in 1979 and began his 30-year career as a cable splicer with GTE – Verizon, retiring in 2009.

Zach was known for his genuine kindness and social nature, his hearty laugh, playful humor and booming cheers at kids’ and grandkids’ sports events. He loved to travel, go fishing, cook, and barbeque, listen to music, and armchair coaching of Seattle sports teams.

So many fun memories with Zach over the years. I am so grateful to have spent Fourth of July with you guys at Riverhouse this year. I always enjoyed talking with Zach - he had a wicked sense of humor and interesting things to say and was really at a point where he clearly felt gratitude for his family and friends and spoke about it on that weekend. The image in my mind whenever I picture him is with a devious grin and maniacal laugh and I will miss that terribly. Love to all of you.

Zach and I always enjoyed ribbing each other (okay, maybe I enjoyed it a little more than him :) and always having a good laugh together. So many memories, concerts, Fort Worden, birthday parties, BBQs, dinner parties, hiking, our many travels together, river house, boating, cocktailing, commiserating about our pets, talking about work...the list is long and varied but I wasn't ready to cut it short. I miss you terribly my dear friend and am so grateful for your friendship all these years. xoxo

Ev,
Remember our post-concert tailgate picnic at the Gorge on an epic summer night many years ago? That’s when I knew for sure that Zach was solid gold. I will never forget him. A true friend.

Always looked forward to a trip over to Zach's house. Riding bikes down to the Villa for donuts or to Arby's. The pellet gun safari's in the hills in Yakima.
Definitely will always remember the summer they returned from over seas and brought us fire crackers and pocket knives!
Godspeed cousin, til we meet again.
