Alma attended Waipahu High School. Later she married Jack Yamamoto. They adopted Jill and moved to Los Angeles, California. Later on they moved to Gardena, California.
Her hobbies included crochet and sewing. In Hawaii she worked in the plantation fields and cannery. Later in California, Alma had part time jobs until she and he husband opened their own Japanese Hawaiian food restaurant in Gardena and later in Carson until their retirement.
After her husband died, Alma continued to live alone in Gardena. She had many friends and neighbors and participated in a meditation group.She would see her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson.
In 2022 after a fall, Alma was placed in a board and care home where she resided until her passing. She is survived by her daughter Jill, grandson Brandon, brother Akio, and sister Chizuko.
