

Lydia was born on April 3, 1963 in Hermosa Beach California to Burton and Margaret Sauer where she was the youngest of four children.
She attended Hermosa Valley school where she was part of foreign exchange program where she studied abroad in Lareto Mexico as a part of the Hermosa Beach/Loreto Student Exchange Program and ultimately became fluent in Spanish and learned the culture. After graduating from Mira Costa High School in 1981 she enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where she served for 9 years discharging honorably at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In the years following the military she eventually joined the healthcare profession where she served as phlebotomist and Medical assistant. She worked for several practices and physicians where she was revered and respected by her peers. Ultimately Lydia ended up working for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs where she continued to support her fellow veterans knowing the struggle of those who served.
Lydia enjoyed a variety of activities, spending time with family and friends, being in nature, traveling and making jewelry.
She is survived by her son, Tory, daughters Maraya and Jasmine, granddaughter Aria, brother Eric, sisters Christine and Karen.
Lydia’s smile, kind heart and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
