It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Melanie Rene Gamboa, who left us just four days shy of her 25th birthday. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Melanie brought light, laughter, and love into every life she touched. Her presence was magnetic—full of energy, warmth, and the kind of spirit that could brighten even the darkest day.
Melanie was a beloved daughter, sister, friend, and mother. She was known for her huge smile, bubbly personality, and a heart full of love. Melanie had a deep passion for cooking and proudly completed a culinary program, she had the techniques to outcook anyone who crossed her. Whether she was creating delicious meals or rescuing all the stray cats in the neighborhood—especially her beloved Lorenzo—Melanie lived everyday to the fullest.
Her bright, bubbly personality lit up every room. She was known for her infectious smile, her unstoppable laughter, and her strength in the face of all of life’s constant challenges. Melanie’s resilience and unapologetic spirit inspired all who knew her.
Melanie’s greatest joy in life was being a mother to her 3-year-old son, Benjamin, who was the light of her life. She will continue to live on through the legacy of Benjamin, and the memories of her we will share with him for the countless years to come.
Melanie leaves behind her mother, Sharma Wood; her siblings, Rodney Gholston, Deandre Gamboa, Andrea Gamboa, Damian Meechum, Rachel Meechum, and Keith; her cherished niece Blessed and nephew Brilliance Jefferson; and her precious son, Benjamin Castillo.
