Biography

Jacob "Jake" Harrison was born in Garrison Texas to M. C. Clinton and Ardessa Harrison. Jake grew up surrounded by family in Lufkin, Texas. Jake attended Dunbar High School, graduating in 1949. He genuinely enjoyed his childhood, but wanted to see more of the world. Jake joined the Navy in 1952, and had the opportunity to travel to many countries, including Japan, England, and the Philippines. Jake was awarded the Korean Service Medal and a good conduct medal amongst others. After serving in the Navy, Jake went to work for the Naval Department as a shipfitter, and was employed for 30 years.

Jake and his family moved to Menlo Park in 1959. He was a great neighbor, never too busy to help anyone with a car repair and always willing to lend a tool. Once when a neighbor’s roof was on fire, Jake ran across the street, ladder in hand to help fight the fire until the fire department arrived.

Additionally, Jake enjoyed tinkering with cars, gardening and fishing. One of Jake’s early dreams was to be a photographer. He enjoyed taking photos all his life. Jake enjoyed watching college and professional football on television and never tired of seeing westerns. He managed to remember the names of all of the actors, no matter the age of the film!
