On October 18, 2011, Margaret McCartney was called home by the lord, she was 95. Margaret was born in North Dakota and lived there until she was 3. Her family then moved to Montana by horse and buggy where she spent the remainder of her childhood. At the age of 22, Margaret relocated to California where she met and married her husband of 55 years, Scott McCartney. They settled down in Redwood City, Ca where she spent the next 70 years raising her 4 children and making great friends that she treasured always. Margaret worked at the Bowling Alley in her later years taking care of all the children in the nursery, she enjoyed this time immensely and established life long relationships with the children and their families. Margaret loved spending time with her family as well as the wonderful friends she has made throughout the years.
Margaret is survived by her children, Janet Murphy, Jim McCartney, John McCartney, her grandchildren, Daniel Murphy, John McCartney, Mary McCartney, Robert Murphy, Kary McCartney, Gary McCartney, Justin McCartney and Grace McCartney, her great-grandchildren, Michael Harrison-McCartney, and Jeremiah Murphy. She is also survived by her older sister Monica Lang of Billings, MT.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Kasimir Catherine Ehly, her Husband Scott McCartney and her son George McCartney.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Monday, October 24th, 2011 at 4pm with Rosary to be held at 7pm at Redwood Chapel, 847 Woodside Road, Redwood City, Ca 94061 and Funeral Service on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 10am at Church of the Nativity at 210 Oak Grove Avenue, Menlo Park, Ca 94025 with graveside to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Menlo Park, Ca.
The family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to The Church of the Nativity in Menlo Park, or the charity of your choice .
