Mary Jane was born on June 20, 1927, to George Edgar Birmingham and Alice Edna Birmingham (Williamson). A proud graduate of Palo Alto High (1945), she enjoyed summer vacations at Martin’s Beach and Carmel with friends, many of whom became her most cherished lifelong relationships.
As a young adult she established roots in Emerald Hills, and her home there became the cornerstone of her life. She raised two adoring children, always prioritizing their well-being while still pursuing a fulfilling career. She was among the first women that rose to the leadership ranks in Silicon Valley, becoming a Manufacturing Manager in the electronics industry, and retiring with over 40 years of distinguished service. Life brought her the great blessing of grandchildren whom she loved so dearly.
Her later years were filled with wondrous adventures. She took an extensive trip to Europe, and re-built her Emerald Hills Home. She purchased a property in the wide open spaces of Nevada, and created Discovery Ranch, an incredible second home for retirement, complete with over 300 trees and a family of burros. Even as recently as May of this year, she took a trip to New York City, a dream of hers for many years.
Mary Jane is survived by her companion of over 40 years, Louis Brusatori; her daughter Gail Kristine Zehe and her husband Bill of American Canyon, California; her son Charles and his partner Ismael Escalera of New York City, NY; her sister Lois Powers of Sacramento, California and her family; and 3 grandchildren, Christopher, Kassandra and Andrew Zehe of American Canyon, California.
Services will be held on Thursday, September 24 at the Redwood Chapel, 847 Woodside Road in Redwood City. Viewing at 9AM and funeral at 10AM. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
