

Richard A. "Max" Maxson, age 74, passed away at his residence Friday, July 4, 2014 after a courageous battle with declining health. He was born on October 25, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Mildred (Hauck) and Charles Maxson. A graduate of East High School in Columbus, Ohio, he moved to California after serving his country in the Coast Guard in the 1950s in Miami, FL and Hawaii. He retired from the California Water Service Company. He was a life-long hard worker who spent his retirement meticulously caring for his garden. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband and son, and generous brother, uncle and friend. Preceded him in death were his wife of many years, Paula Maxson. He is survived by brothers Earl (Donna) Maxson of OH, Charles (Joanna) Maxson of FL, Mahlon Maxson of OH, and sister Nancy Adams of OH; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and extended family Paula, Jean, and James. Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Redwood Chapel, 847 Woodside Road, Redwood City, CA. 94061 on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 11:00am with a Funeral service at 1:00pm and burial to follow at Skylawn Memorial Park, HWY 92 at Route 35, San Mateo, CA. 94062.
