Andrea met the love of her life Ray V. Martinez in 1956 at the Reedley Beach while they were both there visiting with friends and would see him occasionally in various ballrooms in the area. Those dances were the beginning of a 69-year relationship that turned into a loving 67-year marriage. Andrea worked at Ito Packing as a Fruit Packer for many years before she and her husband Ray founded the family business “Ray’s Boat Repair.” There, she worked as the office manager from 1974 until her retirement.
The ninth of ten children she would graduate from Reedley High School in 1953 where she was a good student and active in non-organized sports, especially tennis. At an early age she became quite skilled as a seamstress and enjoyed making dresses and skirts for her sisters and herself, a skill that continued into her adult years. Andrea was also a particularly good dancer, she enjoyed attending dances with her friends and sisters regularly. Sports, especially baseball, were a large part of her life and the Rucobo family’s. As a young mother and wife, she was the team mom for many years of a Little League team in Sanger California named “Sanger Boats” established and coached by her husband Ray. In 1979 the family business she co-owned sponsored an adult slow pitch team in Sanger for over ten years called “Ray’s Boat Repair” that her sons, their friends, and a few relatives played on. She and her husband Ray attended every game they were able to. They especially loved hosting gatherings at their home after softball games, along with their annual New Years Eve party. In the following years she and Ray would attend all of the sporting events they could in order to watch their Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren compete in. Andrea was also an avid San Francisco Giants and Golden State Warriers fan. She especially enjoyed camping with family in the High Sierra’s, boating at Pine Flat Lake and trips to the coast, especially Pismo Beach.
Andrea will be greeted in heaven by her parents Juanita and Arnulfo Rucobo; Brothers, David, Arnold, Vincent, and Johnny: Sisters, Isabel Sanchez, Carmen Cuadros and Rachel Rucobo.
