Betty Jane Miwako Oki, beloved mother, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025. Born in Reedley, California September 4, 1923, Betty Jane's life was devoted to family, community, and church.
Betty Jane was among the thousands of Japanese Americans relocated to internment camps. From 1942 to 1945, she lived in Poston, Arizona, where she met and married Jack S. Oki, her devoted husband of 57 years, prior to his passing in 2000.
Betty Jane found joy in gardening, sewing, cooking, and family. She proudly owned and operated her own hair salon for many years and worked at Otani's Department Store until retiring in 1986.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hiroshi and Hiteyo Nakashima; her brothers Yukio and S. Stephen Nakashima; her sisters Bernice Nakashima and Eleanor Toi; and her loving husband, Jack S. Oki.
Betty Jane is survived by her daughters, Gayle M. Oki, Danielle O. Magee (and husband Jason), and Lorraine M. Kuwamoto (and husband Martin).
A private service will be held at Dopkins Reedley Funeral Chapel.
