Born on July 4, 1955, in Montevideo, Minnesota. Dave was the son of Vivian and James Schwagerl. He grew up in a lively and loving home as one of six children, alongside his siblings Peggy Ferralli, John Schwagerl, Mary Garrett, Julie Reed and Jo Vasquez.
In 1977, Dave married the love of his life, Pamela Smith, in North Hollywood, California. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and six children: Corrine Frost (45), Andrea Lundgren (43), Matthew Schwagerl (41), Claire Clark (36), Sally Schwagerl-Reyes (33), and Emma Schwagerl (31).
Dave was an incredible father—always present, always supportive, and endlessly generous with his time and love. He had a great sense of humor and could make anyone laugh, often with his quick wit or a perfectly timed joke. His children knew him as the best dad they could have ever hoped for. He was also a devoted grandfather to 13 grandchildren, all of whom he adored. At every family gathering, Dave could be found with a baby in his arms and a big smile on his face.
Dave was a man of deep faith and a faithful servant of Christ throughout his life. On January 1, 1994, he became a licensed minister, answering a call to share God’s love and truth with others. His faith guided everything he did—how he treated people, how he raised his family, and how he lived with integrity, compassion, and grace.
For over 35 years, Dave was a self-employed air conditioning and heating contractor, proudly serving the Reedley, California community. He was known not only for his skill and reliability, but for his honesty, kindness, and the genuine care he showed to every client and friend.
One of Dave’s favorite scriptures, shared with his daughter Annie (Andrea), was Jeremiah 29:11:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
This verse brought them both great comfort, and now stands as a reminder of the hope and peace that defined Dave’s faith.
Dave’s legacy is one of love, laughter, faith, and strength. He touched many lives with his warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to God and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
