John was a long-time resident of Reedley, graduating from Reedley High School in 1962. He married Mary Lou Unruh in 1964 and they were blessed with four children: John, Michael, Julie, and David. They were married 61 years and share 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
John was a self-taught builder, architect, and designer. He was also an organist for Evangelical Free Church in Fresno and Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church where he designed and constructed many sets for Christmas musicals for both churches. He also accompanied the Mennonite Men's Chorus and painted the murals at the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church Chapter One Preschool.
On March 27th, a graveside service will be held at Reedley Cemetery at 9:30am and a funeral service will be held at Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church at 10:30am.
