Manuel was born on June 19, 1937, in Holtville, CA, to Vicente Madrid and Delores Sanchez Madrid.
He worked for the State of California in the Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer for 15 years and retired at the age of 65.
Manuel was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Anthony’s Church of Padua, where he served as a lector. He loved being outdoors—especially tending to his garden, picking fruit from his trees, and taking walks or hiking in Reedley and Yosemite National Park. He also enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. Manuel cherished time spent with his loved ones, especially during holidays and family gatherings.
Manuel is survived by his wife of 43 years, Erlinda Madrid; his children, Diana Garcia, Manuel J. Madrid Jr., Angela Madrid, and Ray Samaniego; his siblings, George Madrid, Vicente (Chente) Madrid, Henry Madrid, Jorge Madrid, Vicente Madrid, Graciela De La Cruz, and Julia Salido Madrid; along with 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vicente Madrid and Delores Sanchez Madrid; his daughter, Lucy Ochoa; his sister, Norma Rivas; and his granddaughter, Belinda Garcia and great granddaughter Rhianna Marie Pacheco.
