Maxine Carolyn Mendoza

Maxine left us to be with Our Lord in Heaven on October 7, 2024, after a three-year fight with liver cancer.

She grew up in the L.A. area where she met and married her husband, Robert Paul Mendoza, who preceded her in death on October 1, 1999. Together they raised seven children.

Maxine worked as a teacher's assistant many years in the Compton area. After Robert retired, they moved to Dinuba, California where Maxine was very involved in her church, the First Assembly of God.

Also preceding her in death, her mother, Lucille Cottrell, her father, Earl "Buck" Byus, a brother Emery Byus, and her only son-in-law, Pep Gutierrez.

Maxine leaves behind four siblings, Barbara Taylor of Dinuba, Dick Byus of Clovis, Erlene Taylor of Porterville, and Jack Byus of Dinuba; seven children, Radena Gutierrez, Rhonda Mendoza, Richard Mendoza and wife, Monica, and Manuel Mendoza and wife, Maria--all of Dinuba, Tony Mendoza and wife, Christy of Cerritos, California, Fred Mendoza and wife, Jessica of Bullhead City, Arizona, Robert Mendoza and wife, Genevieve of Florida. Maxine also leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a great-great-grandchild. She was proud of them all and loved her family.

There will be a graveside service at Smith Mountain Cemetery on November 1, 2024 at 10:00am.
