Born on September 23, 1940 in Karlsruhe Fernheim Colony, Paraguay, Pete was the son of Jacob J. Mierau and Margareta (Boldt) Mierau. From a young age, he exhibited a natural curiosity and a passion for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He attended Immanuel High School where he played basketball and made lasting friendships.
After completing his education, Pete pursued a career in carpentry, where he quickly became known for his dedication, hard work, and integrity. He touched the lives of many through his profession, and left a lasting impact on his colleagues, clients, and community.
A devoted father, Pete cherished spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling and was always eager to explore new experiences. He often returned to his native Paraguay to visit childhood friends and relatives.
Pete will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for those around him.
His infectious laughter and warm smile lit up the room, bringing joy to all who knew him.
Pete is survived by his wife, Hedy, 3 daughters, Connie Isaac, Carol Mierau-Frogge (Arlen Frogge), and Christy McDonald (Bill McDonald), 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and a sister, Annie Guenther (Ron).
Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of Pete's life will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024. We will have a 9:00am graveside at Reedley Cemetery followed by service at 10:00 am at Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church and faspa in the social hall.
