Alvin Donald Ulmer

It is with great sadness that the family of Alvin Donald Ulmer announce his passing on Saturday, November 14, 2025. Alvin was born in Melville, Saskatchewan on April 14, 1939 to Jacob and Elisabetha Ulmer. He was predeceased by Jacob and Elizabetha, brother Wayne, sister-in-law Lillian and great nephew Austin.

He is survived by his sister Beatrice, brothers Leroy (Connie) and their children Lee (Brandi), Layne and Lori, brother Harley (Mary) and their son Lucas and Wayne’s children Dana, Lana (Chris) and Tanya as well as 18 grand nephews and nieces.

Alvin completed elementary and High School in Lemberg graduating in June of 1957. In the fall of 1957, Alvin enrolled in the College of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan because he had read that engineers make a good living. He graduated in the spring of 1961. He was very proud to receive his iron ring which he wore every day. He continued his friendships with members of his graduating class right to the end.

Throughout his career, he worked in several locations in Canada with his longest stay in Calgary. He retired in January 2003.

Alvin enjoyed golfing, curling and downhill skiing. He continued to golf and ski right up to end of 2019 when his health started affecting his ability to take part in these activities. He moved to Regina in October 2020. Although he could no longer take part in the sports he enjoyed, he never stopped watching sporting programs on TV. He also had a keen interest in economics and the stock market. He continued this interest by reading books, websites, watching TV programs, and listening to podcasts on the subject. Alvin’s family wishes to thank the staff of Queen Victoria Estates for their care of Alvin during the 5 years that he lived there.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 Victoria Avenue E., Regina. Parking is available in the rear. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alvin’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
