

BLACK – On Thursday, March 9, 2017 BERNICE MILLICENT BLACK passed away. Bernice was born in Wawota on September 6, 1930 to Jasper and Grace Fox. She was the second youngest of 7 children. She attended school at Cannington Manor and Wawota High School. Bernice married Bill Black on November 24th, 1950. They moved to New Westminster, B.C. in 1951 and lived there until 1960 when they returned to farm and raise Polled Herefords near Wawota. In 1968 they moved into town. Bernice was active in the Grace United Church UCW and curled. She loved socializing and the rummoli nights with the ladies. In 1973 they moved to Regina where Bernice had a long career working at the Sears Catalogue Centre. She loved the social life of the city and enjoyed bowling with Bill for many years, curling and golfing. She made many friends through work plus all the hockey & ball games with Tim & Sheldon. She was always in her glory when she had people to visit with. She spent many summers camping at Kenosee Lake with her family before settling into a cabin at White Bear Lake where she could be found every summer enjoying cabin life and the beach. She always relished having a grandchild or two at the lake with her. Bernice loved shopping and especially shopping and dressing up all the kids in her life. She appreciated the opportunity to travel and experience the cultures of other countries in the world, especially on her and Bill’s two trips to Europe. Bernice is survived by her children, Judy (Allan) Melenchuk, Sheldon (Lisete) Black; grandchildren, Chris, Alyson (Mike), Lisane, Phelycia, Teresa (Kyle); great-grandchildren, Luke, Ashley, Xavier, Melayna, Caymen & Dreya; brother Denzil Fox; brothers-in-law, Floyd Pleckham & Dennis Ingram; and numerous nieces & nephews. Predeceased by her son, Tim; husband, Bill; great-granddaughter, Geneveve; brother ,Sterling Fox; and sisters, Muriel Banister, Ruth Ingram, Irene Wilson and Helen Pleckham. Bernice will be fondly remembered for her lasting devotion to her husband, Bill, her sense of humour, her kindness and generosity. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 2:00pm at Broadway United Church, 105 Broadway Avenue, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.Arrangements under the direction of Victoria Avenue Funeral Home and Cremation, Regina, SK.
