

Delores May Haniak was someone very special to many. To family and friends who knew her best, Delores will be remembered as a loving Mother, Sister, Wife, Aunt, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Friend .
Delores was born on May 6, 1942 at Grey Nuns Hospital (now Pasqua Hospital) in Regina, Saskatchewan. She was the daughter of John and Jean Miller, and she grew up with her family in Regina. Delores was raised with six siblings. She had four brothers, Allan, Jerry, Ronald (Bird) and Melvin, and two sisters, Joyce and Phyllis. She and her siblings experienced moments and memories typical of a growing family. One of her fond memories was of the times she spent dancing, doing the "jive" with her sister, Joyce. Watching the two of them dance together entertained all.
Always considered a good friend to those she knew, Delores enjoyed very close relationships with her friends and family during her lifetime. She enjoyed writing letters to family from out-of-town, long talks on the phone and family get-togethers. She had a passion for cooking; she was famous for her Ukrainian dishes, including the best perogies, cabbage rolls and Kolach bread . She touched the lives of all those around her. She was always a care-giver to those who were sick, especially her brother, Allan, and her husband, William, before their passing.
Delores worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to care for them. Delores was blessed with 5 children; 1 daughter, Brenda and 4 sons, Dale, Calvin, Kelly and Tracy. Another blessing for Delores was the gift of seven grandchildren; Steven (deceased), Marques, Nathan, Samantha, Matthew, Jake, Bobby, and Ella and the gift of five great grandchildren; Bailey, Alexis, Fynlie, Sophia and Felix. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her. She loved spending time with them, taking them shopping, solving puzzles, and spoiling them with sugary treats.
Delores enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Delores worked hard to provide for her family. She worked as a Waitress (nicknamed "Sadie" by those who knew her at work) for 34 years at the Little Bavaria in the Northgate Mall.
As hard as Delores worked, she enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite hobbies were knitting and sewing, Bingo, cooking, cleaning (also nicknamed "Sadie the cleaning lady"), casino slots and listening to country music, especially Keith Urban. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes, and loved to share her interests with others.
Throughout her life, Delores often put other peoples needs first. She gave her time to care for those who had difficulty caring for themselves. She enjoyed helping and caring for family, friends and neighbours, Throughout her later years, Delores volunteered at William Booth, bringing her caring ways to those who were nearing the end of their lives.
Delores’s faith was important to her. She was recently a member of Gateway Christian Fellowship. During that time, she was always excited to hear Pastor Brian's services, and looked forward to Church every Sunday.
Delores enjoyed spending many weekends at the farm, gardening. Some of her favourite vacations included camping with her family, Las Vegas with her daughter, Brenda, and her Son-in-Law, Mark, and trips to Disneyland and Disney World. In retirement, she renewed her love and joy in spending more time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Even in retirement, Delores continued to stay in touch with her old friends while making plenty of new ones.
Delores passed away on September 10, 2016 at Pasqua Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan. She is survived by her brother Jerry, her sisters Phyllis and Joyce; her children Brenda (Mark), Dale (Lori), Calvin, Kelly, and Tracy (Daina); her grandchildren Marques (Audra), Nathan (Shirley), Samantha, Matthew, Jake (Kaylene), Bobby and Ella; her great grandchildren Bailey, Alexis, Fynlie, Sophia, and Felix. Services will be held at Gateway Christian Fellowship on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 11:00 am. Delores will be laid to rest in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, alongside her husband, William.
Delores will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Delores leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Delores May Haniak.
