

He is predeceased by his parents Angus and Annie McLeod; and brothers Hugh, Ken, Leslie, Gordon, and Lorne.
Don is remembered, loved and survived by his wife and life partner Joan McLeod (nee Meyer); daughter Cheryl Ann Curry (Chris); grandsons Zach and Christopher; son Mervin Neil McLeod (Mihoko); grandson Kaito (Harunaka); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends of which he encountered, engaged with, and touched the lives of with meaningful conversations.
Born on the farm near Elfros, Saskatchewan Don enjoyed every aspect of the rural lifestyle. He loved the family farm and all of the work that went with it. When he wasn’t busy getting the work done, Don always looked forward to a good fishing trip, a rousing polka dance, a competitive card game with his many friends, building and restoring antique wood furniture and toys, he was an avid and skilled wood and bone carving artist, had an appreciation and love for restoring antique cars (’27 Model T and ’41 Ford), a local community volunteer, painter, antique train and toy collector, beekeeper-apiarist, avid fisherman, a naturally talented handyman, telephone repairman, school bus driver, and a supportive husband, father, and grandfather. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandsons.
“A human life is a collection of stories.” Don has accumulated a broad collection of stories to fill enormous volumes that have touched so many of us through his life in various ways. Many of us were so lucky to encounter the heartfelt, sincere engagement he shared. He will be remembered by his kind smile and laughter, gentle demeanor, his enjoyment of a good joke with those around, and his general good will to all man and beast alike.
As per Donald’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, but a gathering for close friends and family to remember Don. Details to be announced on a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Don’s memory to the Pasqua Hospital unit 3B or 3A, Home Care, or The Allan Blair Cancer Centre. The family would like to thank all of the nurses, staff, and doctors who assisted Don and his family, taking such good care of him.
