Evelyn Hall Bechard

29 August 1932 – 8 May 2013

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Evelyn Bechard formerly of Sedley, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by her parents Mildred and Milton Hall, brother Ronald Hall, brothers-in-law Roland Lefebvre, Don Galan and nephew Danny Lefebvre, she leaves to honour and celebrate her life Leonard Bechard her loving husband of 57 years, her daughters Carmen Dybwad (Don Havelock) and Leanne (Steve) Lucyk and the grandchildren she so adored and who in return adored her; Anne-Marie Dybwad, Jeff Lucyk, Madeleine Lucyk and Chris (Laura) Lucyk. Evelyn’s passing leaves to mourn her siblings Marlene (Gordon) Galan, Priscilla Galan and Charles (Connie) Hall and in-laws Alfred (Rose) Bechard, Blanche Lefebvre, Robert (Aileen) Bechard and Eloise (Jean-Claude) Morneau and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Geographically she may not have moved far from having grown up on a dairy farm at McLean and then moving not so many miles away to a grain farm at Sedley but the range of her intellect and knowledge was far reaching. A voracious reader – she made light work of the Encyclopedia Britannia A-Z, cover to cover – which no doubt contributed to her ability to complete flawlessly, in ink, the most difficult crossword puzzles and defeat all comers at Scrabble. Her cooking and sewing skills were legendary (her pies were most sought after at the local Fall Supper) and lovingly passed them along to her grandchildren. It was a privilege to know her, to call her wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be missed but never forgotten. And just so there is no mistake: St. Peter, when she arrives at your Pearly Gates the code word is “Granky” and she above all others deserves to be admitted. Evelyn’s last days were made comfortable by the exceptional staff at the Regina General Hospital in particular the nurses on 5A (Sheila you were our rock), SICU and 6A whose compassion and care are very much appreciated by her family – thank you. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Holy Child, 2636 7th Avenue East, Regina, SK at 11:00 am.
