

Genevieve Vogt, 94, of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully with her daughters and son-in-law by her side on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. ‘Jenny' as she was often known, was predeceased by her husband Jacob Vogt in 1979 and her son Anthony (Tony) in 2000 and son-in-law Richard Barre in 1992. She was also predeceased by her parents Anastasia & Joseph Bast, her brothers Arnold and Herman and her sisters Theresa & Bernadette. Left to mourn her loss is her daughter Marie (Barre) of Regina, her daughter and son-in-law Janet & John Belay of Regina and her daughter-in-law Betty Vogt of Tisdale. Genevieve is survived by 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Also left to mourn are her sisters and brothers Georgina Berlinger, Marie Senger, Dorothy Adams, Agnes (Alan) Kuntz, James (Ann) Bast, and Patricia (Roy) Aspeliter. Genevieve was born on November19, 1919. She was the eldest of 11 children. They grew up on a farm near St. Peter's Colony in Saskatchewan. When she was 22 years old she married Jacob Vogt and they had three children together. Jacob & Genevieve farmed near Vibank, SK until they sold the farm and moved into Vibank in 1962. Upon Jacob's death in 1979, Genevieve remained in Vibank until 1998. At that time, she moved into Regina to be closer to her children and lived on her own until May of last year. Genevieve was an accomplished seamstress and was often knitting, crocheting and doing cross stitch of one type or another. She loved to visit and catch up with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by those family and friends. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Sunset Extendicare for the excellent care they provided to Genevieve over the past 9.5 months.
