OBITUARY

Harold Brinkworth

May 6, 1937November 12, 2020

It is with great sadness that on Thursday November 12, 2020 Harold Irvin Brinkworth passed away after a short battle with cancer. Harold is survived by his son Jayson Brinkworth (Laura Roddick), daughter Janie Brinkworth, grandchildren Tyson Brinkworth (Jessica Lloyd), Jayla Brinkworth and Cooper Roddick-Brinkworth.

He is also survived by his sister Lorretta Madarash and predeceased by his wife Thelma Brinkworth, his parents Joseph and Gladys Brinkworth, his brother Joe Brinkworth, brother Roy Brinkworth and brother Albert Ernest Brinkworth.

Harold was born in Bienfait, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm in Roche Percee where he enjoyed working the land with his family as well as playing baseball and listening to music. He loved the early years of country music with some of his favorites being Johnny Cash, Buck Owens and Roy Orbison.

He worked for Motorways out of Estevan for many years but ended up in Regina where he would marry Thelma Marie Birnie. Harold went on to serve 25 + years as the building superintendent with the Regina City Police. After retiring, he found a second career in building maintenance at the Royal Regina Golf Course where he worked for 10 + years.

Harold loved any work he was involved in and wouldn’t settle for anything less than 100 % from himself. He was a leader by example and not words which his children Jayson and Janie are true beneficiaries of. He also loved spending time with his wife Thelma on their coffee dates to McDonalds, drives around the city and doing puzzles.

Harold was also a VERY talented and creative woodworker. His family always believed his works should be sold and on display for everyone to see, but Harold was happy having this be his hobby and made pieces for family and friends, mostly as gifts. The many hours spent in his shop was a true testament of passion which was also passed along to his children.

Harold always had a smile for everyone, never complained and was always very polite and respectful (especially to Thelma, Jayson and Janie). Even in his month long stay at the Pasqua hospital this past July, the nurses would always say “He is the most polite and kind man, we would just keep him here if we could “.

His family would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to Bunmi Onasanya, Wena and the staff at Bethel Manor Care Home. The amazing nurses and doctors in unit 4B at the Pasqua Hospital and Dr Ferguson and the staff at the Allen Blair Cancer Centre.
