The family of Jane Markewich is saddened to announce her passing on Friday, January 9th, 2026 at the age of 88.
Jane was born December 5th, 1937 on a farm 6 miles south of Hazel Dell, Sk.
She was a wonderful, gentle and kind Wife, Mother, Baba, Great-Baba, Auntie and Friend.
Mom had a memory like no other and could tell stories that were very interesting and detailed. She had a delightful sense of humor.
Mom married Nick, the love of her life and was married for 68 years. After moving to Regina she was a stay at home mom raising five children before entering the work force, until retirement. She enjoyed camping, gardening, knitting. She loved watching her sports: curling, “her Riders”, hockey and baseball. She had an immense love for Ukrainian cooking which she enjoyed sharing with family and friends.
She was one of five children born and was predeceased by her parents Bill and Bernice Maksymiw, and her brother Ed Maksymiw. She is survived by her brothers Rudy (Dorthey), Alf (Marlene), Bernie (Elaine); and her sister-in-law Fran Maksymiw.
Jane is predeceased by her husband Nick Markewich. She is survived by her children Robert (Shelley), Kelly, Mark, Janice (Dave Sinclair), and James (Cheryl); grandchildren Bobbie, Nicole, Curtis, Alyssa, Stefanie, Ashley, Tanner, Brett, Jared and Jennifer; and great-grand children Daniel, Anika, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Lauren, Maddox, Beckett, Cruz, Brixton, Alexander, Brynley, Makayla, Chloe, Jayce, Weston and Tessa; she is also survived by her sister-in-laws Sophie (John Knittig), Veronica Sikorski, Jean Markewich; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Prayers will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at St. Athanasius Ukrainian Catholic Church located at 55 McMurchy Ave. Regina, Sk. starting at 7:00pm.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 10:00am, at the same location. Reception following the Funeral service.
Interment to take place at Riverside Memorial Cemetery at 2:00pm, following the reception. 815 Assiniboine Ave E, Regina, Sk
