Thinking of Dad.  Almost a year now that he is gone.

To my Dad,

On Thursday, Oct 11, of last year you left us on my birthday.  It is Thanksgiving week-end, a year later, and it seems like yesterday you were just with us.  I think of you at the oddest times of the day almost every day whenever something reminds me of something you have said or done in the past.  Good memories - you are in my heart and I will never forget you, my father!

To my Family,

I miss our Dad every day especially when I walk in the front door of his house, look over and expect to see him sitting in his favorite easy chair over in the corner.  Whenever any decisions are made I expect him to pipe in from that corner giving us his input.  My memories are especially poignant when I remmber his younger days when he was healthy, vibrant and full of life.  Even though he was very quiet when we all gathered together in his home on holidays I never really realized the extent of his influence over all of us when he was alive.  Now that he has passed on I sorely miss him and wonder what I would say to him if I could see him healthy one more day and knew that was the last day I would have to speak to him.  Oh, that wish, to have one more day with him.  All the days he was with us that we took for granted and didn't speak all the important things that were really in our hearts!I love you and miss you, Dad, more than you can ever possibly know.

With heartfelt acknowledgement of Uncle John's passing, wonderful memories flow forth of our childhood at the farm.  As "city kids" we enjoyed the "country" experiences made possible by the great hospitality of Uncle John and Aunt Magdaline, our cousins and the greater family.  They hold dear in our heart.  We continue to pass these stories along to our children and grandchildren.  What a wonderful life!

Terisa (Heisler) Tarowski - I'm sure I speak for my brothers and sisters.

We think we are preparing for the passing of a family member but  our loss is so much deeper and more grievous than anticipated. The  bed, the place at the dinner table, the jacket, the sound of his or her voice -- all empty space now where our loved one was. Memories flood in to fill the void. We wonder what we could have done differently or better for the person who has just passed. The stages of grief are to be acknowledged and learned to live with. Being left behind is painful but life does continue in the legacy of children. 
Having lost a husband, I am most sympathetic to my aunt Magdaline. I remember her wedding and the glass wrapped in a white cloth. My father called out "Good Luck" as he stomped the glass in a gesture that meant long years of good luck in the marriage. After all these years together, I would say the wish for good luck came true. To have that many years together is somewhat rare in these days. My uncle, the last of the brothers and sisters to pass was to me a bright, quiet man, who always seemed to be smiling quietly whenever I did see him, which was not often in these later years. But I remember him as a young man leaning against the wall, sharing stories with his brothers and sisters.
I cannot be there in person today but I am with you all in thought. I am so sorry for the family's loss. But what I do know with absolute certainty is that Life on the other side does continue.
