Josephine Agnes Ermel

August 18, 1934 – September 22, 2025

It is with sadness that the family of Jose Ermel announce her peaceful passing at home on September 22, 2025, at age 91, surrounded by family.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Walter; parents Max and Rose and stepmothers Matilda and Mabel and siblings Albert (in infancy), Wilfred, Rose and Steve.

Jose is survived by her sons, Bob (Sharon) and Barry (Linda); grandchildren Shayne (Amanda), Clayton (Cass), Roly (Jenn), Riley (Becky), Cody (Sheena), Kelly Lynn (Matt), and Brady (Robin); great-grandchildren Urijah, Rhett, Evaya, Matt, Weston, Cash, Ford, Barrick, Emily, Benny, Audrey and Sonny; And Matt’s children Linkin, Everly and Ayven. She is also survived by brother Henry (Cathy), sister Kathleen and stepbrother Ron (Alice) Gibson. As well as countless friends and extended family.

Jose was born in Qu’Appelle and raised in the Dilke and Bethune areas. In 1953 she married Walter Ermel and they began their farming life in the Bethune area. She took great pride in being a farmer’s wife and all the hard work that came with it. She loved hosting large family gatherings, playing cards and watching her kids’, grandkids’ and great grandkids’ sports. In her later years, she loved tending to her garden and flowers and sitting on her backyard swing and listening to the Purple Martins and Finches. But the birds she most loved to watch were her beloved Toronto Blue Jays. A few days before her passing she told us that the Jays would have to win the World Series without her.
