Kenneth Grant Sinclair, Kak-Si-Hat Peyeso (Fast Flying Thunderbird) passed away peacefully at his home in Gordon First Nation SK on September 21, 2011 at the age of 52. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Jaqueline, John (Rae), Jacob (Kim) and Sara and his granddaughter Chanai. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Agnes Sinclair, brother Brian (Trisha), sisters, Wendy (Zennon), Kim (Chad), Fern (Rick), Karen (Pat) and Amanda (Kyle). His special aunt and uncle, Alice and Clarence Pratt and sister Patty Pratt (Bob). He also leaves to mourn his wife, Dawn who always remained the love of his life. Ken was predeceased by his granddaughter, Isabella, his grandparents, John and Helen Sinclair and Gilbert and Katherine McNab, and his best friend and father-in-law Bob Blind. Ken was born at Lestock, Saskatchewan on April 25, 1959 and moved to Regina where he attended school at Rosemont and Martin Collegiate. He began his career as a reporter for the New Breed Magazine and later became the Director of the Metis Addictions Council for a number of years. Ken was very passionate about the game of golf and achieved his professional designation as a Class “A” Golf Professional with the Canadian Professional Golf Association. Ken became a managing director of RES Management and with his friend Don Ross, operated the Regina Beach Golf Club until the time of his death. After marrying his wife Dawn in 1998, Ken moved back to Gordon First Nation where he always remained deeply rooted. His concerns for the social and economic disparities for on reserve First Nations led him to become actively involved in his community. For a number of years Ken sat on Council for the Gordon First Nation and later served as Chief for one term. Ken made a remarkable contribution to the social, economic and cultural lives of First Nations but Ken will be most remembered for his achievements in hockey and golf and for the mentorship and support he provided to the many youth who greatly admired him for his game and the positive contribution he made to their lives. But his proudest legacy is his four children and granddaughter. His greatest pleasure was hunting and most favorite time of year was fall where he would walk endless hours with nature and he would often comment about how intrigued he was by its beautiful landscapes. His love of life could be seen in everything he did: from hunting and golfing, to cooking and politics. His generous spirit, quick wit and wonderful sense of humour will always be cherished by those who knew him, In particular, his facebook friends who looked forward to his daily posts of teasing, his words of encouragement, and to his words of reflection and wisdom. Ken we will miss the sound of your laughter. We will miss your stories and the teasing. We will miss your compassion and commitment and your strength and courage. You are greatly loved and admired by many. Your illness took you from us too soon. But your struggle is over, travel well my friend. A special thank you to Warren Longman and Hugh Pratt who assisted Ken in his time of need. A celebration of Ken's life will commence with his wake on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at the George Gordon Education Center Gym and his service will be held on September 27, 2011 starting at 11:00 a.m. with Art Anderson, Vicky Young and Austin Kay officiating. Interment will follow and take place at St. Luke’s Anglican Church.
In my dreams I saw you...young, strong & full of life...basking in the glory of every sunrise...your laughter filled the room and your smile warmed our hearts...in dreams we are together forever continuing our adventures...sharing our lives...in dreams we will walk beside you...listening to your stories and telling you ours...may the dreams continue...because in life you are gone and we mourn for you...
