Letty was born to Marcelo B Laviste Sr. and Josefa Soria Laviste on December 18, 1932, in Basud, Camarines Norte, Philippines. Letty was a talented and adventurous student. Being the fourth child of eight, she was an active member of the girl scouts and home economics club. Following these passions, Leticia taught home economics in Basud, then immigrated to Regina, Saskatchewan, in the early 70’s to be the in-house seamstress at Morton’s clothing store. Then she opened her dress shop on Albert & 25th Avenue, and years later, the two sisters, Lydia & Letty, joined forces to open D’Insight Creations on 13th Avenue.
While Letty never married, she lived an entire and vibrant life as a successful dressmaker and seamstress, and with more friends than you could count. Her nieces and nephews meant more to her than words can describe, and they benefitted from her generosity. Many of them owe their education to her kindness and support.
When Leticia retired, she devoted most of her time to religious prayer and travel. She was also an active member of the Philippine Association of Saskatchewan and the Philippine Senior Association of Saskatchewan.
