It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lido Giovannetti on Sunday July 5, 2020. Lido Giovannetti was was born October 15, 1935 in a small mountain top village in Italy. Lido was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Ameriga; parents Domenico & Maria; sisters Bruna and Gina; brother Aldo; brothers-in-law Ivo Carani, Luigi Santini, Lido Gonnella, and Leonello Santini. Leaving to cherish his memory is his loving daughter Pat (Dean) Morrissette; grandson Devin (Montana) Morrissette and their two children Aria & Noah, grandson Tyler (Jill) Morrissette and their two children Jaxson & Lincoln; Lido’s sister Santa who resides in Italy; sisters-in-law Guilia Giovannetti and her family, and Nina Carani and her family; as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends in Canada and Italy. Lido migrated to Canada in 1962 making the journey by boat with Mary and their new baby daughter Pat. Lido spent most of his working years as a labourer bending rebar at Stelco. Lido was the type of person to always lend a helping hand. If you needed a driveway poured, fence built, roof shingled, or even a basement dug by pick and shovel, Lido was there to help. Lido enjoyed making wine, hunting and fishing to the fullest. He shared these passions with his two grandsons Devin and Tyler. Lido along with Mary took a lot of pride in their garden and enjoyed watching their grandkids trying to pick the biggest carrot. Lido lived a very unassuming life, never wanting the spotlight to shine on him. We now ask that heaven’s light shines brightly on him with Mary by his side. You are one in a million Nonno, and you will be greatly missed. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private Graveside Service for family will be held at Riverside Memorial Park. We would like to thank Will, Kristin, and Autumn from ward 5A at the Regina General Hospital for the compassion and the care they provided for Lido.
