The sky looks after me, The earth looks after me
With family, friends, and relatives by his side, it is with great sadness that our father, brother, uncle, grandfather, cousin, and friend has been called to the spirit world where he was greeted by those who walk on the other side. Lindsay was predeceased by his grandparents Allan & Agnes Marie Starblanket, Frank & Ethel Buffalo (nee Kinequon); his parents Gilbert Sr. and Muriel Starr (nee Buffalo), daughter in infancy; niece Janet; granddaughters Launa, Maria, and Elizabeth; along with many more inspirational relatives. He leaves behind his children Andrea (Lowell), Adrian, April (Dean), Chad (Amber), Starlene, Lindsey Dawn (Jared), and David, brother; Gilbert Jr; sisters Arlene (Kevin) and Renita (Dale); special nephews and nieces who he took as his own Louis (Amy C), Vincent (Roberta), Tessa, Francis, Chris (Monique) Lynda, Justin (Cheyenne), Daniel, Amy, Kendall, Dylan; and many grandchildren he loved ever so dearly. He also leaves to mourn his adopted family brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
For many years he fought a long hard battle with diabetes and congestive heart failure. He walked the red road alongside his late father and many other mentors who helped him learn our way of life. Special acknowledgements goes out to all the lodgekeepers, lodge brothers/sisters and oskapewis who have helped him throughout the years. Not only did he have his love for his culture and traditional way of life, he loved attending powwows as an avid grassdancer who danced for the people, and traveled with the Star Blanket JR'S drum group. This was what he lived for and is what kept his spirit strong.
The Wake will be held at Wahpimoostoosis gym in Lebret, SK Friday January 13, 2023 at 4:00pm. The Funeral service will be held Saturday January 14, 2023 at the Wahpimoostoosis gym, in Lebret, SK at 11:00am; The interment will follow at the Starr family plot on Starr Blanket First Nations Reserve.
We would like to thank those who rendered prayers near and far, the nursing staff at the File Hills Health Services, ANHH, and Regina General Hospital for their utmost care for making our relative as comfortable as possible during this precious time.
