Louise passed away on October 30, 2025, at the age of 84 years. Her passing was sudden and unexpected. The absence of the space she held, the light that she was and the unwavering kindness that she exuded is felt immensely.
She leaves behind her sons Allan (Carolyn) and Andrew (Jennifer); her three beloved grandchildren Katrina, Alyssa (Austin) and Lucas, her brother Dale (Sandra); two nieces and three nephews. Louise was very excited about the imminent arrival of her first great grandchild phoning every day to see if the baby had arrived yet!
Louise was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Gene; her mother and father Carolina and John; and her sister Joyce (Gerald).
Louise’s early years were spent on the family farm near Ernfold, SK. Upon her high school graduation, Louise attended Teacher’s College in Regina earning a teacher’s certificate. When her boys were young, Louise spent her summers in school to earn her teaching degree. Very fittingly, Louise became a Kindergarten teacher, and she never looked back. She adored her students as much as they loved her! Louise’s wonderful traits of compassion, kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity and love were evident in all aspects of her daily life.
Besides her family, Louise adored her dogs throughout the years. Once her last dog, Dixie, passed away, Louise befriended the dogs in her neighborhood. She often joined the dog (and its owner) for walks to the park and dog sitting which she particularly enjoyed.
In her spare time Louise was an avid gardener. Every year her roses were heaving with blooms, her flower pots were glorious, and her vegetable garden was plentiful. Louise was always very generous- sharing vegetables from her garden and/or treats from her kitchen. Her Saskatoon pies were highly sought after as were her chocolate chip cookies, jars of jam and canned pickles.
Louise started every day with the Crossword puzzle and any other word game that she could find. We quickly learned that we couldn’t beat her at Scrabble; instead, we watched in fascination as she laid out each impressive word. Louise’s other interests included going out to the Symphony and plays in Regina.
We want to send a heartfelt thank you to Louise’s incredible neighbors in the Cathedral neighborhood for your friendship and support as well as to Louise’s many friends and her family physician Dr. D. Kothare.
A funeral service will be held in late Spring/ Summer of 2026.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA.
