
Marie passed away peacefully, at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Born in Blaine Lake, Sask. on July 28, 1921, Marie spent her childhood in Duck Lake, where she attended Stobart School. The family then moved to Saskatoon, where Marie completed high school at the Academy of Sion. She earned a teaching certificate at Normal school and continued her studies later in life. Marie married Ian Warrington Johnson on July 25, 1946. They raised their family in Regina, before retiring to Creston, B.C. in 1976. Marie was very proud of her family’s rich French Canadian (Fransaskois) history in this province, and she had a deep and profound faith, which played a key role in her life. She was a member of both the C.W.L. and the Secular Franciscans Order. Her wisdom, enthusiasm, and spirit will be missed by her family and faith community. Marie was predeceased by her husband; Ian Johnson (1985), one sister: Alma (2005), and two brothers; Robert (1934) and Emile (2009). She is survived by her children; Bob and Sandra Johnson; Gail Johnson; Marcia and Edward Wiebe; Bill Johnson; Joan and Len Konechny; Tom and Roxanne Johnson, and Suzanne and Tom Hardy. She also leaves to mourn, 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, and is survived by sisters Denise Yeager and Doris Brown and brothers Denis (Sharon), Ray (Martha), and Bob (Beth) Courchene, brother-in-law Glenn Ecklin and sister-in-laws Aileen Redecopp and Eileen Courchene. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Rosary Cathedral Basement Auditorium, 2104 Garnet St., Regina, SK. A Celebration of Marie’s Life and Interment will be held at a later date.
