Mrs. Marie Emelie Reed

1921 – 2010

Our beloved Mom, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully on May 16, 2010, at the age of 88. She will be greatly missed. Mom was predeceased by her parents Pius & Magdalena Heisler; husband Harry Reed (1984); daughter-in-law Beth Reed; sisters Madeline Knight, Kay Eckstein & Betty Wood; brothers Jack, Joe & Mannie; sisters-in-law Mary Heisler, Lillian Calder, Ruth Blair, Dorothy Petch, Nora Reed & Violet Nother; brothers-in-law George Eckstein, Alfred Wood, Dave Calder, George Blair, Allan Adie, Edgar Petch, Jim Reed & Fred Nother. Marie is survived by her three children – Jim, Don (Val) & Joye (Bill Miller); nine grandchildren – Janet (John Cruz), Diannelle (Todd Miller), Virgil Reed, Kimberly (Justin Flunder), Kortney (Byron Obregon), Keltie Reed, Quinn (Amber) Miler, Jillian (Cameron Bailey) & Reed Miller; 18 great grandchildren – Jamie, David, CJ, Katie, Jim, Ryan, Amber, Brittany, Cambrie, Breanna, Meadow, Joshua, Reiss, Raine, Jaxyn, Jakob, Kamdyn, & Elizabeth; brother Willie (Irene) Heisler; sisters-in-law Johannah Heisler & Elizabeth Adie; special friends Olive & George Osiowy; and numerous nieces & nephews. Mom was born in Regina on May 28, 1921, the 6th of eight children. The family moved to Cupar in 1929, and shortly after Mom met the love of her life, Harry Reed. They married on June 17, 1940, and farmed in the Cupar District. She was a wonderful cook, baker, and hostess – everyone was welcome at her home. Working at the Cupar Library from 1968 to 1996, gave Mom much pleasure, particularly enjoying the children. She finally retired at the age of 75. For health reasons, Mom moved to Regina in 2002. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to Mom. Over the years, Mom was active in the CWL, Legion Auxiliary, various Rink Committees, the Cupar History Book, Bridge Clubs, Arts & Crafts, and Plus 50. Prayers will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010, at 7:30 pm in the Chapel of Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at 1:00pm at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church in Cupar, SK. Interment to follow at Cupar Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Mom’s memory can be made to St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Cupar, SK or the Alzheimer Society.
