1935 – 2026
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Marina Helen Klotz of Regina, SK. Marina passed with family at her side on Sunday April 19, 2026, at the age of 90.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Harry Klotz; parents, Peter and Jean Deck; parents-in-law, Stephen and Helen Klotz; stepmother, Katherine; brothers-in-law, Al Bischoff, Lawrence Fink, Alan, Wilfred, Clifford and Maurice Klotz; sisters-in-law, Violet Fink, Marlene Klotz and Divia Mayer. Marina will be remembered, celebrated and deeply missed by her children, Tim Klotz, Ellen Gerein (Richard), Jane Klotz (Cody Nickel), Myra Hoffman (Randy) and Amy Edwards (Conrad); grandchildren, Dane Hoffman (Anika), Hayes Hoffman, Brigden Edwards, Ever Edwards; sisters, Bernadette Bischoff, Terri Lajoie (Roger); brother, Jack Deck (Josie); sister-in-law, Bernice Klotz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marina was born on May 30, 1935 at the family farm in Sedley, SK, where she learned the importance of hard work. After high school, she continued her education in Regina at Sacred Heart Academy, completing a medical stenographer course, thereafter, working in medical offices downtown. In 1956, she married Harry, and together they built a life in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary and ultimately, Regina. Marina was a homemaker, managing a busy household while keeping a watchful eye on finances. Her cabbage rolls were legendary and always requested at gatherings both large and small.
She was a true extrovert with a full social calendar marked for tea dates, family gatherings, games and activities at Harbour Landing Village, and recently proud to receive the ‘Walking Encyclopedia’ award. While very social, she appreciated quiet moments, enjoying puzzles and reading, particularly historical literature.
Marina was a devoted member of her church community, a dedicated volunteer and a member of the Catholic Women’s League since 1960. She anchored herself in faith, finding strength and comfort in mass and prayer.
She would say her greatest blessing and joy in life were her grandchildren. They were her heart. She was a story book grandma, doting and playful, generous with her time, hugs, kisses and yes, worrying.
The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Curtis, Dr. Aboguddah, Dr Elwood, and the attending staff at Regina General Hospital for their compassionate care. A special thank you is also extended to the caring staff at Harbour Landing Village.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday May 4, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Parish 3239 Garnet St, Regina, SK, with Reverend Louis Kim Nguyen officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marina’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
