August 24, 1931 — October 9, 2023
Mum passed away peacefully with family gathered around at 92 years young.
She was born at the beginning of the dirty thirties to British immigrants John and Elspeth Levers. Mum's childhood began in a two room shack on the farm. With tough times ahead, the family moved to Regina where she graduated from Scott Collegiate. She went on to train and become a registered nurse at Regina General Hospital. She did a short term working as a nurse in England looking after injured Korean War vets. Mum returned home to marry her true love, Archie Walsh for 55 years. They amazingly raised 10 children on limited means. When the children grew up, they made room in their hearts as foster parents caring for troubled and disabled children for 30 years.
Mum's homestead became our home away from home. It meant longs walks up and down hills, wiener roasts, camping, fishing and of course chores.
Mum's signature holiday meals and baking will be sorely missed. Her yard was a place filled with colorful flowers she proudly tended. As Mum's mobility declined, she turned to crochet and then to jigsaw puzzles that kept her mind sharp and focused till she passed.
Mum is predeceased by her husband Archie (2010); parents and her sister, Isabel. She is survived by her brother John; 10 children as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren, too numerous to count.
A family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to CNIB or the Heart/Stroke fund.
Mum was a fountain of advice for anyone who needed her. Her biggest legacy is the people whose lives she touched and the kindness she shared with everyone. Her last words were "I kept dad waiting long enough"
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.leefunerals.com for the Walsh family.
