Melissa Deanne Coghill

Melissa Coghill, of Regina, Saskatchewan passed away on Labour Day weekend at the age of 39. She was born to Bruce and Kathleen (nee Maki) Coghill in Moosomin, Saskatchewan. She is survived by her father Bruce; brother Hollis Coghill (Jenny Stradeski); sisters Laura Biden, Jenny Coghill and Sherry Coghill; nieces Chenoa, Taegan, Kadence, Mercedes and nephew Emmanuel. She also leaves to mourn her aunts and uncles Allan Maki (Sandra Kelly), Marlene (Maki) Stevenson, William Street, Harold Maki, Vincent Maki (Angie Mercer), Sheila (Coghill) Smyth, Bert Coghill, Neil Coghill (Ava Hoffman), Gaylene (Coghill) Danielson (Dennis Danielson) and numerous cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her mother Kathleen; uncles Dennis Maki and Lyle Stevenson; aunts Berva (Maki) Sheppard and Beverly (Maki) Street. Melissa grew up on a farm near Rocanville, Saskatchewan and attended university in both Regina and Saskatoon until she obtained her B.A. degree in English. She went on to complete her law degree at Osgoode Hall law school in Toronto, Ontario. Her vibrant sense of humour, passion for music, dedication to advocacy/social justice and complete devotion and acceptance of family and friends will be remembered by all that knew her. Melissa played saxophone for the Jazz band through the Moosomin School Division in high school and also competed in several competitions. Melissa worked at Merchant Law Group while she attended law school and upon graduation as a legal researcher. She also enjoyed playing Heroclix on Saturdays with her friends at Comic Readers as it was a great outlet for her to exercise strategy. There will be a graveside service at the (new) New Finland Cemetery on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, the YWCA Regina’s Isabel Johnson Domestic Violence Shelter or the Regina Humane Society.

You will be missed melissa the times we had as kids at the farm in rocanville and the visits we had in regina when we came to visit mom will always remember the trip to mosejaw fun times it was always great to see you and the family you were a careing and fun person to be around and trips to regina will not be the same.
