Melvin ‘Jim’ passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019 at the age of 59 years along side his love Tristan Blacksioux, and granddaughter Skyrah Tawiyaka.
A beloved son, father, brother, nephew, uncle, grandpa, Koda, and Sundance brother journeyed into the Spirit World to be welcomed by family, friends, and relatives.
He will always be remembered for his kind heart and gentle soul.
Melvin was predeceased by his grandmother Mary Laswisse; grandfather Jacob Laswisse; Aunties Gloria, Anita, Karen, Genevieve, and Aldonna; uncles Ray, Larry, Nabob, Delbert, Benjamin, Clayton, Victor; siblings Daniel, Herbie, Steven, Sandy, Michael, Janice, Sandra, Dianne, Brenda, Calvin, and Alvin; Grandchildren Dakota, Elias, Mathias, and Freedom; mother of his daughters Anita Smoke
He is survived by his mother Barbara Ryder; Uncles Herb and Dave; brothers Barry, Wallace, Kevin; sisters Gloria, and Anita; daughters Nicole (Dwane), Natashia (Jesse), Tabby, and Faith; sons Marcel, Kody, Dakota and many adopted children; grandchildren Serenity, Savannah, Tryvonn, Kaldon, Brenna, Carleigh, Dwane III, Elliott, and Lilyana; special friend Shelly Brown; aunties Mary-Ann, Janice, Janet, and Marjory; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandchildren, and relations.
The family would like to thank White Butte and Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP, Edgeley EMS, other EMS from surrounding area, File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council CISM Team, Regina General Hospital staff and emergency triage, Native Health Services, Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, volunteers at the accident scene, Standing Buffalo Chief and Council, Band Staff, Health Staff, and all who offered prayers, and support during our time in need.
