Mona was born in Assiniboia, SK on December 20, 1931 to William and Edith Roszell. She was the 5th of 9 children. She attended Progress Hill School in Congress, SK, a two room schoolhouse, until grade 11. She then moved to Regina, SK where she worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia, and Silverwood Dairies. During this time she met Donald Drysdale and they were married on October 20, 1951. They moved to Estevan, SK in 1957 and welcomed their first child, Beverly, in November 1959. In 1965 they adopted a baby boy, Jeffrey, and in 1969 they adopted a second baby boy, Douglas. Mona stayed home to raise their three children and always had a home business selling something, such as Avon or Nutrimetics makeup. She loved the kitchen and was a very good cook. She also loved to garden. In later years she began playing tennis, winning many trophies for her successful games. In 1976 she wrote her Real Estate exam in Regina and began selling real estate. She was very successful at her career and was well known in the community as an accomplished realtor, often having her photo in the local newspaper for Top Sales. After 20 years, she ended her career in 1996.
A public memorial service to celebrate Mona’s life will be planned and announced on a later date.
