1910 - 2019
It is with great sadness the family announces Sophia’s passing on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.
Sophia was born on a farm near Lemburg, SK on May 15, 1910 to proud parents Elizabeth and Frank Schick. She had three brothers and one sister. She attended Wiesenberger Country School until she was eleven years old, the family then moved to a farm one mile south of Dysart, where she attended school until grade eight. She then helped on the family farm.
On February 3, 1931 Sophia married Lawrence Hardman. They had met at the local dances. Together they had two boys, Bernard and Rodger.
Sophia and Lawrence lived in Dysart and Sophia worked as the telephone operator and Lawrence the lineman. They did that for twenty five years before moving to Melville, SK. Sophia then worked as a nurse’s aid in the local nursing home.
Lawrence passed in 1965 and Sophia continued to work until her retirement in 1974. She moved back to Dysart and lived in the house where her parents once lived.
Sophia had many hobbies such as knitting, crocheting, and sewing.
She is a proud grandma of six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, December 9, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Parish, Dysart SK, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St John the Baptist Church in Dysart or the Cupar Nursing Home.
